JDBC Tutorial

JDBC Overview

Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) is a standard that describe how to connect to and talk to a database from within a Java application or applet.

JDBC helps you to write Java applications that manage these three programming activities:

Connect to a data source, like a database
Send queries and update statements to the database
Retrieve and process the results received from the database in answer to your query

How JDBC Works

A Java program first opens a connection to the database, makes a statement object, passes SQL statements to the underlying database management system (DBMS) through the statement object and retrieve the results as well as information about the result set
